The Pratt Lake Trail #1007 is well-worn and wide. At 1.0 miles the junction for Granite Mountain Trail #1016 appears on your right. Continue onward for the first of the real elevation gain, skirting the slopes of Granite Mountain. The trail intersects with the Talapus Lake Cutoff #1039.1 at the 2.9-mile mark, offering access to the shores of both Talapus Lake and Olallie Lake.

Continue following the Pratt Lake Trail as it traverses the bowl above Olallie Lake, offering occasional glimpses of the water below. This is the best view of the hike, so take a few minutes to enjoy it before pressing up to Pratt Lake Saddle, a low point on a shoulder of Pratt Mountain that offers access to the Pratt Lake Basin 4.0 miles from the trailhead.
