Every spring the shoulders of Dalles Mountain put on a spectacular flower show, with fields of balsamroot and lupine painting the mountainside with vibrant purples and yellows. One of the best places to enjoy the show is the Columbia Hills Historical State Park, which has miles of trails snaking through the wildflowers in the Dalles Mountain Ranch trail system. There's a lot more to Columbia Hills, and you can learn all about it in Washington Wildflower Hikes: 50 Destinations. You'll find a trail map, route descriptions, history, and more for this and many other hikes throughout the State. Help support hikingwithmybrother.com and the work we do by picking up a copy!
