Dog Mountain is both very popular and very steep. The meadows that cover the upper reaches of the mountain turn vibrant during wildflower season, drawing flower aficionados from across the state. Unsurprisingly this former lookout site also presides over some stunning vistas. Combined with an extremely accessible trailhead just off the highway, it’s little wonder that the trail sees so many visitors that you can expect to find a full parking lot during wildflower season.
