Summer Blossom Trail

Although it is challenging to get to, if you can bear the bumpy ride, the Summer Blossom Trail offers gorgeous views, fields of flowers, and less-travelled trail. The dozens of miles of forest road to the trailhead aside, the hike’s panoramic views from North Navarre Peak are approachable for most hikers.

From Chelan, head north out of town on State Route 97 Alt toward Pateros. Reach State Route 97 North in approximately 5 miles, turning left. Continue 13.3 miles to State Route North 153 signed for Twisp and Winthrop. Turn left and follow for 16.8 miles to Gold Creek Loop Road. Turn left, and in 0.8 miles turn left again onto Gold Creek Road, with a sign pointing you toward South Fork Cold Creek, Foggy Dew and Crater Creek Camp. In 1.0 mile turn left onto South Fork Cold Creek Road (aka FR 4330). Continue for 13.4 miles to the junction of Grade Creek Road (FR 8200) and Cooper Mountain Road (FR 8020). From the roadside parking area, cross Grade Creek Road to the trailhead. As you cross, note the green slopes of Summer Blossom Basin near the base of Bryan Butte just to the north.
From here, you can only see a small portion of the meadowlands, but after some climbing you will find pocket views that showcase the whole basin.
